It’s beginning to look a lot like Balboa Park December Nights, in July! The City of San Diego and the Balboa Park Conservancy are inviting San Diegans to get a head start on holiday planning at Holly Jolly July on Friday — July 28. The festive and fun-filled preview of Balboa Park December Nights will coincide with the Conservancy’s popular Food Truck Friday program.

Santa Claus will be taking a vacation from his workshop to visit Balboa Park for a sunny summer getaway. He’ll be joined by Balboa Park December Nights favorites — including Dylan’s Steel Band, WorldBeat Center, Civic Youth Ballet, Sweet Adelines, and other entertainers; the Fleet Science Center; XETV 12;  fabulous food trucks; and more — for a sneak peek at what’s in store for the 40th annual holiday spectacular and to enjoy all that Balboa Park has to offer in the summertime.

Visitors of all ages can enjoy family-friendly entertainment while eating gourmet treats from a selection of more than a dozen food trucks — including several that serve festive eats at Balboa Park December Nights, such as Mastiff Sausage, Super Q, Bosnian Grill, Mangia Mangia — parked around the Bea Evenson Fountain (between the Natural History Museum and the Fleet Science Center) and El Prado walkway from 4:00 to 8:30 p.m.

The heart of the holidays in San Diego, Balboa Park December Nights celebrates its 40th year in grand fashion on Friday, December 1, from 3:00 to 11:00 p.m., and Saturday, December 2, from noon to 11:00 p.m. The nation’s premier holiday extravaganza promises to sparkle with even more food, fun, and festivities in its milestone year.
