Visitors Center

The best way to begin your park adventure is at the Balboa Park Visitors Center, a program of the Balboa Park Conservancy.

Located at the northwest corner of the House of Hospitality building, the Visitors Center has the most current and comprehensive information about the Park’s activities and attractions. Open 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily (closed Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Day), the Visitors Center offers brochures, maps, audio tours, free guided tours of the Park, transportation information, dining advice, and more.

Hours: The Balboa Park grounds are open 24 hours a day, the Visitor Center is open 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily, and museum hours vary.

Free Park Tours: Explore the park’s rich history, spectacular architecture, and botanical wonders during a one-hour walking tour led by a Park Ranger on Sundays at 11am, and by Visitors Center staff on Tuesdays at 11am. Meet at Visitors Center.

Custom ToursBook a one-hour custom tour of the Central Mesa for up to 15 guests. The $150 per tour fee helps support the Conservancy’s many initiatives to enhance the park and the visitor experience. Advanced reservations required by contacting us at Larger groups can be accommodated, keeping to the ratio of one guide per 15 people.

The Balboa Park Visitors Center in the House of Hospitality building is currently looking for volunteers who are very familiar with San Diego and love Balboa Park.
